The City of North Kansas City provides water and waste water services to its residences through the Water Division and Waste Pollution Control Division.
If you have questions or concerns on your water bill, need to connect and disconnect service, establish a new account, new meter installation, change address or edit information, or if you suspect your meter readings are incorrect, please contact City Hall at 816-274-6000.
For water main breaks and residential water and sewer problems (such as foul order, discolored or backed up), or new meter installation (once account is set up), please call Public Works at 816-274-6004 Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. For emergencies after hours, please contact NKC Dispatch at 816-412-6010.
The City contracts with Custom Tree Care to maintain city trees in the Parks and City right-of-ways on an as needed basis. Typically you will see crews out trimming in the fall making preparation for the winter months ahead and again in the spring as trees begin to bloom. They trim branches from the powerlines, remove hangers and low branches over drives and sidewalk areas.
Fall Leaf Pickup
The City’s Leaf Pickup Program runs mid-October through mid-December. City crews use a vacuum truck to pick up leaves along the side of residential streets. Residents who don’t want to bag their leaves can rake them in the grass area next to the sidewalk. Raking leaves into the street is prohibited by law because they obstruct the flow of storm water and clog catch basins, which can increase the severity of flash flooding. Generally, it takes the City crews one week to pick up leaves throughout the entire residential area. Delays may occur when we experience rainy weather because the vacuum equipment is ineffective when leaves are wet. If you have any questions you may call 816-274-6004 for assistance
Snow and Ice Removal
In the winter months, City crews monitor weather closely and try to get a jump on approaching storms. They pretreat road surfaces with liquid brine and follow an established route that addresses Hospital Hill for emergency situations and dangerous hilly routes first, then residential, business and truck routes. They continue to treat and clear with snow plows and blowers as the storm progresses. In the residential areas, it is always greatly appreciated if vehicles can be cleared from the streets whenever possible for greater effectiveness. The number one priority for our crews is to make every effort to clear streets for emergency personnel. Snow along the main streets such as Armour and Swift is pushed to the middle of the street and reduced after the storm has passed.
For questions on snow and ice removal, please contact Municipal Services at 816-274-6050.
